My name is Cho Jung Tsai, I am a rising junior, and I love helping people with their problems! I create the student chapter for Tech Literacy for Seniors because I feel that young people should really put in effort in helping seniors getting to know technology. Seniors all around the world contributed to the world we have today, and we should just leave them out and isolate them just because they are older now and couldn't catch up with new things emerging around the world nowadays.

Arjun Balaji is a passionate STEM advocate who is very interested in giving back to his community. Leading his chapter in Fremont, California, Arjun and his team strive to develop applications and design websites for non-profits that cannot afford to do so. Through giving back to his community, he hopes to inspire other people to adapt to a similar initiative.

I (Siddharth Matada) am passionate for STEM education because of the outlet of knowledge and experience it provides to a person. STEM education is important in providing useful and necessary information. I strive to see change in our world, a better future where technology helps us, and hope to inspire others. I am excited to share and learn with my community to inspire others.

Sahej Virk is the Chapter President of this initiative in Fremont. The Business Coding Initiative aims to bring a computer-science education to underprivileged learners across the globe. By providing the youth with a versatile technological education, we strive to increase technical literacy for the less fortunate. In a world where technology is becoming increasingly omnipresent, it is essential that no student is left behind.

Cupertino, CA

Rachel Chan is currently a student at Monta Vista High School with primary interests in Computer Science, math, and biology. Her passion for STEM has driven her to take PreCalculus Honors as freshman, share her programming knowledge as a bay area co-teacher for Intermediate Java, and become a sheltered-biology TA for her school. Outside of STEM, she loves business with the state-finalist title for DECA and writing for recreation. Rachel hopes to bridge the gap between education and healthcare by promoting the magnificent things STEM has to offer.

Muhammad Saad is an advocate of free education, and believes the first step to equity is access to the same resources worldwide. STEM education, in particular, is something that applies to almost all real world applications, which is why it’s very important that everyone has the opportunity to delve right in. I (Elliot Bossi) am passionate about STEM accessibility and believe that strong STEM education should be available to all students regardless of their background, socio-economic situation, and neighborhood. I am fortunate to be enrolled in a New York City public school with an outstanding academic and STEM program. During this COVID-19 crisis - when access to education may even further deepen inequalities - I want to give back to my city by sharing my STEM knowledge and passion that I've gained through my public school education with other students from the city's underserved communities. Through leading my chapter, I work alongside my Stuyvesant High School fellow students to provide free, virtual 1-on-1 tutoring sessions to other New York City high school students, help them advance their STEM education, and inspire them to not allow their environment to limit their academic aspirations and potential.

According to the UN, 50% of Pakistani children enrolled in government primary schools cannot solve 50/100, and gender-wise, boys outnumber girls at every stage of education. I (Fatima Shafiq) plan to change that by making STEM education free of cost and more accessible to the underprivileged in a language they are fluent in. I am extremely passionate about inspiring students, girls in particular, to pursue careers in STEM, enabling the next generation of scientists and engineers to reach greater heights than we do.

I (Mondir Saouab) am passionate about STEM education, and its role in helping the
community develop and rise. I believe that everyone, regardless of
their socio-economic status, deserves to have equal opportunities and
chances to embrace what STEM Education can offer, and following this
belief, I would like to start a chapter of Engage Stem in my country:
an initiative to help high school students better comprehend STEM
Subjects. By creating an online and free network of tutors in the main
STEM Subjects such as Mathematics, Biology and Geology, Physics and
Chemistry and Engineering Science. Because Education is key!

Anant is a sophomore at John P. Stevens High School with a passion for STEM. He enjoys traveling, and helping others when he can. He currently is looking to help Seniors who have any technology related questions. With the Covid-19 Pandemic, he has already worked with previous senior centers, such as the Somerset County Senior Wellness Center at Bridgewater to bring 'How to Use Zoom Classes'.

Huaming Wu has been a STEM enthusiast ever since he was a child. With the introduction of computers to his life, he was convinced to pursue a career in computer science. He was fortunate enough to receive opportunities that fostered his interests. However, he feels that some are not as fortunate and that they just need a push in the right direction. Thus, his mission is to help people become immersed in the world of technology and STEM through any means necessary. A large part of that mission is to aid seniors to achieve greater technological literacy.

Sameeksha Agarwal is currently a sophomore at Northview High School, GA. She is very passionate about the STEM field, and this fervor has led to her to participate in many extracurriculars, such as TSA, math team, robotics, and engineering. She aspires to help out the society by spreading this interest to other people, especially through educating people who are not well-acquainted with STEM-related topics. Through starting another branch of Tech Literacy for Seniors, she hopes to not only spread awareness of technology usage and other STEM topics, but also to make a difference in the community through this education.

Ananya is the chapter founder for the Cupertino branch. She is fascinated by all things STEM and wants to empower those around her to explore their interests in the same. She is looking to spread her passion to her local community by holding app-making classes at her local elementary school.

Elaine Ly is passionate about everything STEM-related and is always ready to take on new challenges. She loves giving back to her community, and through opening a new chapter, she hopes to increase technological literacy among seniors in her neighborhood.

Angelica Castro is a firm believer of giving people the opportunity to try something new before they can give an opinion on it. As a STEM advocate and growing up in a community where STEM isn’t recognized, she wants to give students the opportunity to venture into a world they never believed they’d get into. Many STEM fields like science are always related to the belief that it’s “boring” or difficult. Having had that belief written into her mind growing up, Angelica wants to show children and students all around the LA community that these STEM fields are actually fun!

Shreya Shah will be the chapter president in the upcoming 2020-2021 school year at Land O’ Lakes High School in Florida. She wants to help courage more kids into volunteer work with STEM projects to introduce new career fields to her peers. She wants to enhance more work with children with coding. She wants to make her school chapter be more involved and help made study sheets and guides for STEM field classes for other graduation classes. She would also like to work with students in middle and elementary schools with her chapter to do fun science experiments and raise funds for the community through beach clean ups and more.

I (Yee Lam Lei) have been passionate about STEM for as long as I can remember. As a student at The High School for Math, Science, and Engineering at City College, I am given opportunities to explore my interest in STEM through advanced math courses as well as a biomedical enrichment program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. To share my passion for STEM, I have started this chapter in NYC to provide free tutoring services for elementary and middle school students as well as resources and study guides. My peers and I strive to spark student interest in STEM as well as share our knowledge with those who aren’t able to receive as extensive a STEM education as we.

I, Abigail Manoylo, have always had a love for STEM and promoting STEM education. In the last few years, I have immersed myself in various STEM internship/research opportunities and I hope to spread my passion for the topic to others. Through creating a chapter at my HS, I will gather a team of my peers to tutor children in elementary and middle school on STEM topics (primarily math and science). I am hoping to expand the general knowledge children have on STEM and inspire future generations, as well as my own, to pursue a career in the STEM field. I plan on introducing my peers and the children we tutor to exciting and educational opportunities outside of the classroom to spark an interest they may not even know they had or fuel one they are already passionate about.

Copresidents Aryan Kini, Atharv Shelar, Aditya Vijay, and Vraj Shah are all determined to create a new chapter to aid their local community. They value STEM highly and want to create events involving spreading STEM's importance as well as having fun technology activities. These copresidents are perfect in their movement to expand the community's interests in STEM because of Aryan's vast knowledge of coding, Atharv's understanding of business, Aditya's awareness of the community, and Vraj's deep curiosity for the sciences. Together, they can use their strengths to convey the importance of STEM.

Abey is currently a high school senior. He is a technology entrepreneur who has developed SITIOS TECH and is very much into STEM. Abey had a lot of experience designing and developing websites for many start-ups,individuals and full grown companies.He started the company to help other businesses upscale their revenue by exposing them to the internet and also help them be recognized internationally. Abey believes that Tech Literacy for Seniors is important and will be helpful to them in various ways from staying in touch with their loved ones to getting their meds. Abey hopes to help the seniors around the world using all his ability in STEM. Abey is also a member of Engage STEM's Partnerships Board, which oversees collaborations with like-minded nonprofit organizations.

My name is Samar Chehab and I have several passions, two of which are learning and helping others. Not only do I love to learn and constantly educate myself, but I also love spreading and giving others the same opportunities. The STEM field has always been of interest to me, especially science, and I am very excited to spread this love to other students as well. I will be providing students with easy access to research findings, study guides, and other relevant resources and information, and am extremely honored play a role in enhancing the STEM field in the Middle East.

Tanvi Jammula is currently a junior at the Academy of Engineering and Technology. She is very passionate about the world of STEM, particularly the fields of science and technology. Tanvi’s passion for STEM has driven her to take part in various extracurriculars including Science Olympiad, math bowls, and TSA. Tanvi has had many opportunities in her life in the fields she loves, and now, she would like to give back to her community by giving these same opportunities to other students and helping them develop a passion for STEM.

I (Salma Ghazi) have always loved STEM and, more specifically, computer science. I’m lucky enough to have had the opportunity to learn about these topics but Covid-19 has managed to highlight the disadvantages many people face on a daily basis. Having seen these challenges, I realized how important it is to help others have the opportunity to learn about the things I love, like science and technology. No one should ever be kept from learning and I want to help further the mission to support equality through Engage STEM.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we (Taj Khandekar and Aditi Agarwal) noticed a lack of opportunities for kids to be entertained through educational summer experiences, and were inspired to create a free camp that would allow kids to interact virtually in a fun way. Our camp teaches various science concepts through an engaging, hands-on way to encourage students’ curiosity. We hope to get kids involved in STEM from a young age and help make STEM accessible to all!

Angela Predolac is extremely passionate about STEM and loves sharing her knowledge with others. Since STEM has so many applications in the real world and is required in many of the highest-paying jobs, she believes it is incredibly important to encourage an interest in STEM from an early age. She would love to give back to her community by providing one on one tutoring sessions, along with other student volunteers, for children in grades K-8th. Angela is also a member of Engage STEM's Partnerships Board, which oversees collaborations with like-minded nonprofit organizations.

Angelo Bravos is passionate about science and aspects of the subject pertaining to medicine. Angelo believes that him, along with his fellow peers, should have access to study materials on these subjects. These subjects include scientific topics featured in school curriculum from a variety of grade levels. He plans to make a public account and collaborate with his peers to make this a reality. By doing this, he hopes to introduce people to the entrancing world of STEM.

Saumya Chauhan is a STEM advocate and leader in her community. She believes that students around the globe should have access to a strong STEM education regardless of their background or socio-economic status. Leading her chapter in Fremont, California, Saumya strives to guide students who want to challenge themselves beyond their schoolwork and class curriculum towards free and accessible online college educational resources. This is especially important to her amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, where educational resources are not as easily accessible. She hopes to inspire students to advance their STEM education and not let their environment diminish their academic potentials.

I am a student of GCE Olevels and i would like to start a chapter of Engage Stem in my country where the education about this field of science is inaccessible to many curious minds.

As Richard Feynman says "if you want to master something, teach it". I (Bilal) am from Karachi, Pakistan, a country which is undergoing a severe financial crisis under these circumstances of COVID-19. I belong to a family where my father works hard to provide us with 4 siblings the best and quality education and my mother is a housewife. I am planning to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering from METU Turkey. When I am not doing (or learning) anything, you can often find me driving around the city mostly near the coast. Also, I enjoy logical games and everything connected to mathematics and physics. I have been doing many courses through Coursera, Edx and many other online platforms and trying my best to utilize this quarantine in the best possible way.

Her experiences in the areas of science, math, and engineering have propelled her to start this chapter of Engage STEM in NJ to help younger students gain access to more resources that can benefit them both inside and outside the classroom. She hopes to help students realize their passion for STEM and ultimately provide them with unique opportunities to learn and grow.

Hilary Le is currently a Junior and very passionate about STEM. She feels that kids should be exposed to STEM at an early age to help them in the future. Outside of Engage STEM, she often volunteers at local events and participates in many other clubs at her school. The San Jose/Morgan Hill chapter is currently dedicated to introducing STEM to kids, specifically through classes and tutoring.

Aadarsh Balaji is currently a sophomore in high school and is very interested in technology. Along with his passion for soccer and playing the saxophone, he is also invested in furthering his knowledge about STEM. After taking a college-level course on Cybersecurity, he recognized the importance of being safe and protected with technology. He hopes to make an impact in his community by helping senior citizens with their technological skills, while also teaching them about cybersecurity. He looks forward to being President of the Metuchen chapter and expanding the organization.

I am Sai Pranav Gonuguntla, currently in 10th Grade at University High School in California. I plan on studying Cardiology at a University. I have a strong passion for technology, along with Science and Math through my academic experience in school. I actively participate in many non-profit organizations and clubs to showcase my skills and spread my ideas. I am currently a part of the Cyberpatriot team for my school. I enjoy playing Chess and Basketball in my free time. I want to see a community grow their ambitions in STEM, and be successful in pursuing their STEM-related goals. By starting a chapter in EngageSTEM, I hope to create a sense of community for my fellow peers revolving around STEM by creating tutoring programs, workshops, and etc.

Digraj is a freshman at the Science and Engineering program in Manalapan High School. He has an extreme passion for STEM and enjoys engaging in many numerous hobbies such as playing soccer and coding. Digraj's passion drove him to take part in many extracurricular activities such as JSA, TSA, and numerous Robotics Clubs. He wishes to bring young students to older mentors and aid them in learning about the vast world of STEM. He hopes to help young children make numerous projects while developing collaborative skills with their High School mentors. He wishes to assist his community and shed light on numerous concepts of Science and Technology through EngageStem and is thrilled to be a chapter head.
